Russia’s Military Aggression Against Ukraine Is Only the Tip of the Iceberg: Solomiia Khoma of UCBSS in Prague

On December 1–2, a conference of Ukrainian diaspora organizations was held in Prague, where Solomiia Khoma, Coordinator for International Cooperation at UCBSS, spoke as a lecturer.

The event, dedicated to strategies for countering Russian propaganda, brought together representatives of organizations from more than 15 European countries and consisted of several thematic blocks.

During the conference, Solomiia Khoma (Head of International Cooperation at UCBSS and representative of the European Congress of Ukrainians in Kyiv) focused participants’ attention on the threat of Russian influence within the framework of the international campaign “#TURN OFF RUSSIA”, aimed at countering Russia on economic, political, and cultural levels.

“The terrorist state is present in all key spheres of societies: political, economic, informational, and humanitarian. In each of them, for decades, it has expanded its influence, developed its own networks, and legalized them in accordance with local legislation in order to use them to its advantage. Today, we are expanding our expertise and experience in countering Russia in order to stop the terrorist state at the global level.”

UCBSS systematically shares its experience in researching and countering Russian influence networks at international platforms and through its own channels.

During her speech, Solomiia Khoma emphasized the continuity of the Kremlin’s war strategy: “Russia is fighting not only against Ukraine, but against the entire civilized world. The terrorist state is present in all key spheres of societies, and for decades it has only been expanding its system of influence.”

Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine is only the tip of the iceberg, behind which lies a vast global network of Russian influence.

“Thanks to its extensive influence network, Russia replenishes its resources and thus continues to wage a full-scale war in the heart of Europe. The ‘friends’ of the Russian Federation in European countries also fuel a sense of impunity and permissiveness for the terrorist state, leading to new crimes. In the face of a growing threat, our key task is to identify and counter Russian influence worldwide,” – Solomiia Khoma emphasized at the end of her speech.

The Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation continues its work together with its representations and partners on highlighting and marking the critical importance of countering Russia at all levels of society.

We thank Bohdan Rajčinec, European Congress of Ukrainians, and International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) for organizing the meeting!
