NATO supports the draft law on the Fundamentals of National Resistance

NATO is ready to provide expert support regarding Draft Law No. 5557 on the Fundamentals of National Resistance, which is currently under consideration in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

This was stated by NATO Strategic Advisor on Special Operations Forces (SOF) Michael Ripass (USA) during discussions with Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Roman Mashovets.

Special attention during the meeting was given to the key role that the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will play in developing national resistance and the resistance movement.

The parties also discussed progress in achieving interoperability with units of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization member states. Roman Mashovets emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation with Alliance members, primarily by taking into account experience in developing special operations forces under modern security threats, and informed NATO representatives about the current state of development of the Ukrainian military.

For his part, Michael Ripass confirmed NATO’s continued and unwavering support for Ukraine in strengthening its Special Operations Forces to ensure the sovereignty of the state.
