UCSS at the World Congress of Ukrainians Summit: on Ukraine’s military victory

The Summit of the World Congress of Ukrainians was held in the halls of the Romanian Parliament in Bucharest, bringing together more than 200 leaders and representatives of Ukrainian communities from 55 countries across five continents.

Among the participants and honored guests were representatives of the Ukrainian and Romanian governments, international experts, partners, supporters, and friends of the WCU. The summit was also attended by Solomiia Khoma, Coordinator for International Cooperation at the UCSS.

Over the course of three days, participants discussed the key areas of the WCU’s work—namely victory, the reconstruction of Ukraine, and a strong global Ukrainian community—and sought answers to the historic challenges facing Ukraine and Ukrainians worldwide.

“A crucial component of supporting Ukraine in the war and achieving its future victory is the weapons provided by our partners. Therefore, advocacy in this direction is a key priority,”

said S. Khoma during a panel discussion dedicated to military assistance to Ukraine.

The Summit also featured panel discussions on the integration of Ukrainian displaced persons into host communities, promoting policies for their return to Ukraine, developing mechanisms to counter the so-called “Russian world,” exploring ways to strengthen the youth movement in the diaspora, and reinforcing unity and cooperation within the global network of Ukrainian communities.

As noted at the Summit by WCU President Paul Grod, “today there are many challenges, and we must think about how to organize our lives—to unite the new global Ukrainian community around Ukraine.” Meanwhile, President of the European Congress of Ukrainians Bohdan Rajczynski emphasized the importance and role of Europe, which it has played since the beginning of the war.

The event was made possible with the support of the Union of Ukrainians of Romania.
