Serhii Kuzan, of Ukrainian Security and Cooperation Center, appealed to Norwegian parliamentarians and the public in Oslo

Head of Ukrainian Security and Cooperation Centre at demonstration in Oslo

Before the special session of the UN General Assembly regarding Ukraine, a demonstration was held near the Parliament of Norway in Oslo, at which the Chairman of the Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation made an appeal.

“The fact that russia continues to be a permanent member of the UN Security Council is the same as if a murderer would sit among the jury at the trial of his victim. Currently, the activity of this institution is blocked because of Russia, which applies the right of veto to all resolutions related to its invasion of Ukraine”, – Serhii Kuzan said.

Up to the anniversary of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the UN General Assembly during its special session devoted to Ukraine should support the resolution, which highlights the necessity of peace, that ensures the “sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity” of Ukraine. According to the Associated Press, the draft resolution was previously sent for review to all member countries of the organization, except russia and belarus.

“Norway has been elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2023, so the actions of the public here and in other Security Council member states are extremely important to unblock the activities of this international institution. Why? Because the West should pass unpleasant political decisions. And the exclusion of the russian federation from the Security Council should be the first step”, – emphasized Serhii Kuzan.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Ukrainian community in Oslo every day makes demonstrations near the parliament to remind politicians about russian crimes and aggression against Ukraine.
