The draft law №5557 should be passed by July 14 – Adviser to the Commander of the SOF of the Armed Forces

The draft law on the fundamentals of national resistance should be passed by July 14. Adviser to the Commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Denys Podanchuk said in a statement.

“If the Rada supports the bill in the first reading, the second reading should take place by July 14 this year. Because if we don’t make it by July 15, we will not be able to fulfill the official requirements of the Budget Code, and money will not be included in the budget. Accordingly, on January 1, 2022, there will be no money for it”, – the Adviser said.

According to him, the draft law № 5557 is a tool that combines territorial defense, the Resistance Movement, and the training of the entire population.

“The Armed Forces will finally have a separate type of force – territorial defense. The Commander will report directly to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. This opens up more opportunities and prospects. And there will also be voluntary formations of territorial communities, of which 1438 are based in the territory controlled by us. The financing of the Territorial Defense Forces must be a separate line in the budget of the Ministry of Defense. The law will be of a framework nature. And a lot of things will be outlined in the regulations – on the Resistance Movement, territorial defense – and other documents. And now any citizen, motivated to join the defense of the country and willing to directly engage in the rebuff, will understand what to do and how”, – Mr. Podanchuk added.

It bears reminding that on June 15, a press conference on the topic “National resistance – a cornerstone to Ukraine’s security. Presentation of the draft law №5557 on the fundamentals of national resistance” was held in the House of Officers. The Ukrainian Security and Cooperation Center co-organized the event.
