Ukraine Is a Key Pillar of Europe’s Defense

At the summit of the Bucharest Nine (B9) and Nordic countries held on June 2, 2025,…
Residents of Buryatia who moved to Crimea after the occupation of the peninsula have already begun to regret their relocation since the start of the so-called “special military operation” and are planning to return to mainland Russia. Even one Buryat media outlet has written about the real situation in Crimea.
In particular, the article says that after “popping sounds” became more frequent at warehouses, airfields, and even at the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet, not only tourists but also so-called “newcomers” began to leave the peninsula en masse, and few people actually believe the version of Russia’s Ministry of Defense.
Despite assurances from the occupation authorities that everything is fine in Crimea, since the start of the full-scale invasion the situation on the peninsula has changed dramatically—especially for those who trusted the Kremlin and moved here during the “Crimea is ours” hysteria.
“Since spring, planes and helicopters have been roaring in the sky every day, there are far fewer tourists, the beaches are half-empty, Simferopol airport has been closed, and getting to central Russia is now only possible by train or bus via the Crimean Bridge with transfers to the airport in Sochi. Prices for almost everything have risen sharply,” says a military retiree from Buryatia, who, of course, supported the war in Ukraine.
After the occupation of Crimea, he sold his three-room apartment in Ulan-Ude and bought a two-room flat in Sevastopol. Now the Buryat family has decided to leave: they put the apartment up for sale, but over two months there were only two calls, and in the last case they were offered a price three times lower.
“Who could have known it would all turn out this way,” says the Russian, hoping he will be able to return to the mainland without too serious financial losses.
“Hope, as they say, dies last,” the outlet concludes (source).
In addition, the article mentions several times that Ukraine considers the Crimean Bridge illegal and that it is under threat of “NATO missiles.”
Well then, run—this is only the beginning. Ukraine will liberate all its territories. Crimea is Ukraine!
