Russian military aggression against Ukraine is the tip of the iceberg: Solomiya Khoma from the USCC in Prague

On 1-2 December, a conference of Ukrainian diaspora organisations took place in Prague.  Solomiya Khoma, Coordinator of International Cooperation at USCC and representative of the European Congress of Ukrainians in Kyiv, was one of the speakers at the conference.

The event, dedicated to the strategy of countering Russian propaganda, gathered representatives of organisations from more than 15 European countries, and consisted of several blocks.

Solomiya Khoma focused the participants’ attention on the threat of Russian influence as part of the international campaign “#TURN OFF RUSSIAN” to counter Russia on the economic, political and cultural levels.

“The terrorist state is present in all key spheres of society: political, economic, information, and humanitarian. In each of them, it has been increasing its influence for decades, developing its networks, legalising them under local legislation to use them to its advantage. Now we are expanding our expertise and experience in countering Russia to stop the terrorist state on a global scale.”

The USCC systematically shares its experience in researching and counteracting the Russian influence network on international platforms and its own channels.

In her speech, Solomiya Khoma emphasised the continuity of the Kremlin’s war strategy:
“Russia is at war not only against Ukraine but against the entire civilised world. The terrorist state is present in all key spheres of societies, and for decades it has only been increasing its system of influence.”

Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine is the tip of the iceberg, behind which lies a large-scale network of Russian influence in the world.

“Thanks to the developed network of influence, Russia is restoring its resources, which allows it to continue waging a full-scale war in the centre of Europe. Russia’s “friends” in European countries also fuel the feeling of permissiveness and impunity of the terrorist state, which leads to new crimes. In the face of the growing threat, our key task is to identify and counteract Russian influence in the world,” said Solomiya Khoma at the end of her speech.

The Ukrainian Security and Cooperation Centre continues its work together with its partners to mark and highlight the criticality of the fight against Russia at all levels of society.

We express our gratitude to  Bohdan Rajčinec, the European Congress of Ukrainians and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) for organising the meeting!
