Georgia, a country that has long been moving toward European integration, has recently witnessed changes in its political course. The Georgian Dream party, which previously promised to lead Georgia to the EU, plays key role in these changes. Now, the party’s recent promises and actions directly contradict the country’s prospects to join the European Union (EU).
Since 2014, Russia has been trying to create the illusion of legitimacy for its actions on the territory of Ukraine: the occupation of Crimea, the creation of new republics that it later incorporated into the federation, and eventually a full-scale invasion. Not the least role in this is systematically played by “independent international experts” who are in fact European citizens paid by the Kremlin and those who are also responsible for Russian aggression in Ukraine.
In the year and a half of Russia’s full-scale war in Ukraine, the EU has imposed 11 packages of sanctions on companies and individuals to deter the Russian war machine. But so far, this pressure has not been enough to stop the war and the deaths of Ukrainian civilians.
To destabilize the internal political situation in European countries, Russia is waging a hybrid war that began long before its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The countries that actively support Ukrainians are the most pressured.
